Polar Plunge Helping Special Olympics Missouri

The Maryville Treatment Center and Northwest Missouri State University were both recognized for their efforts in a fundraising event earlier this month in St. Joseph.

The 5th Annual Polar Plunge helped raise more than $51,000 for Special Olympics Missouri when 205 people took the leap into Lake Contrary. The Maryville Treatment Center was the top fundraising law enforcement agency bring in more than $5,300 while Northwest Missouri State was the top fundraising university taking in $4,400.

You can still contribute to the next Polar Plunge which will take place at Lake Viking later this week. If you would like to donate you can visit the website somo.org. More than $500,000 has been raised for Special Olympics Missouri from Polar Plunges across the state.
